Description Key Editor

Hi,
My DescKey Editor is not functioning properly. When I first open it only the first code is displayed. If I make an edit to that code some of the following codes will appear, but only down to the bottom of the Panorama. I can not scroll down. This is happening on two separate computers and on one of them I've uninstalled and reinstalled with SP2. I have also copied the DescKey Set into a new drawing with the same results.

Also, I can not change the Fixed Scale Factor in Panorama or the Tool Space view.

A little help before my head explodes.
Thanks

I know this isn't the answer that you're looking for, but I've logged
this with Autodesk as a defect. It's possibly an issue with the
Description Panorama exceeding a hard limit of number of items that it
can display - how many keys do you have in your set?

Here's a short term workaround that I got from Rob Todd - if you don't
feel comfortable hacking your registry, please, please, do not do this.
And, as always, make a backup of your registry before proceeding.

A short-term workaround is to hack the following registry key by
clearing the “Value data”, or you can delete the KEY altogether. If
this KEY is missing it will be recreated when Panorama is displayed again.

Key Name:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.0\ACAD-5000:409\Profiles\<
Profile>>\Dialogs\AxUiMgrItem\AeccMgrDescriptionKeyCol:List:AxUiPltPanoramaVista:DescKey

As long as there's no soldering involved, I'm up for the hack. This took care of the Panorama problem and one of the swelling veins in my forehead.

Thanks,

Great, thanks! I was having this problem, with only one Desc Key appearing in the Desk Key editor.

The Registry hack fixed the problem. I can now get back to productive work again, at least for a while... 🙂

I thought this had been fixed in SP3, as I used to get this all the time, but rarely since SP3. Today I'm having heaps of problems again.
1. The Editor does not sort codes alphabetically after clicking the column header, most seem Ok but there is often a code that is not sorted in the right place, i.e. LMA, LMB, LMD, LME, LMC, …
2. There are duplicate codes, such as DIL, DSIL, DSSIL, DOL, DSIL, …
3. Only a couple of codes show up in the editor, need to highlight a code and edit just that one in the editor.
4. Creating a copy: Need to shut the editor and reopen it in order to display the copy, so I can edit it.

The registry hack works to bring all the codes back. Thanks for this.
However this editor really needs some attention urgently.

As near as I can tell, trying to sort columns in the editor is a sure-fired way of triggering the bug.

Yes, the Desckey editor is in serious need of attention. It's a mess.

i just ran across this exact issue, but my Registry does not have that key listed. So, I can not "correct" the issue.

I am on the SP3 version of C3D.

Have you tried using the find funtion in the registry editor, pasting all or part of the key name from this post into the Find (ctrl F) dialog box.

If you're reading this on the web browser, Jason's key got mangled.

In between "Profiles" and "Dialogs" is supposed to be the name of your profile. If you're using the default setup, it will be "<<Unnamed Profile>>" (that should read "Unnamed Profile" surrounded by angle-brackets, if it got mangled).

yup. it was a bit mangled.

I took another pass through the reg. and found the key.

The desc. key manager is running smoothly again.

Thanks very much everyone.
