DITCH LINE

I need help making the bottom of my ditch follow its own specific profile.  This is a simple cross section with 3:1 slopes on both the backslope and foreslope with a 2' ditch bottom.  I don't know which sub-assembly to use or how.  Can I get instructions about the profile, the sub-assembly, and anything else that makes this work.  I know it's probably easy, but I'm new to C3D and I'm missing the boat on this issue.

There are SideDitch and Channel subassemblies in the Trench Subassembly toolpalette. They may be helpful.

You can also use generic links to from the desired geometry. I use LinkWidthAndSlope to form retaining walls, swales/berms, etc. Attach a daylight to the terminal subassembly.

I try to design these with a centerline profile.

I've been suscessful with the following:

For the ditch assembly, start with the 3:1 slope using a 'LinkSlopeToElevation' link, a 'LinkWidthandSlope' at 0% slope and 2' wide to form the bottom, and a 3:1 daylight link at the end. In the corridor model, use a profile line or feature line to the 'LinkSlopeToElevation' as an elevation target to control the bottom profile of the ditch.  The outer daylight link can be used to form a bench if the ditch line isn't deep enough.
