DEM or DGM?

I am trying to import a DGM file into Civil 3D.

I do this by adding a DGM file to a surface through prospector>surfaces>surface>definition>dgm files,

however the problem I am having is that it defaults to DEM file types which through research I have found out is our american counterparts version of the DGM.

Any suggestions on how to import DGM files much appreciated

Thanks

Stewart

What do you mean by DGM file??

The screenshot allows import of ASCII based raster files (asc, dem etc) whereas the other type of DGM file I'm aware of is a binary type that is generated by PDS design software and which can't be imported.

I have no direct knowledge of DGM files. However from what you've shown I'd first try renaming a copy of the DGM file to DEM and see if it can be imported that way.

The second thing I'd probably try, if the first didn't work, is to try and find a DGM to DEM converter.

These are just guesses based on how I'd try it I had that problem

Never heard about .DGM extension, so try to import your file in the free Microdem, then "save as" USGS classic .DEM format, sir.
