Creating multiple profile views in 1 production sheet

C3D 2008 Sp2 on WinXp Pro:

Is the following procedure possible?

I need to have multiple profile views that display pipe information in one
production sheet.
I created the new sheet with a PS viewport and Xref'd the base plan, with
original profiles, into MS. I have already created the xml data shortcuts
for the pipe networks. Do I need to create the data shortcuts for the
alignments that represent the pipe runs aswell? Or just for the profiles,
or ALL of it? I want to annotate the pipes in the profile views in the
production sheet. I have a feeling that I am going to have to create
shortcuts to the profiles and create new profile views in the production
sheet, then I can display the pipes in the new views, and annotate them.
Does this sound about right?

Thanks,
Tired and Frustrated

Yea I like to create my profiles in the dwg that I'm doing my design. Creating the profiles in your base dwg will most likely be a waste of time and bytes. In the end you can't data shortcut the profile but only the alignment and the surface that created the profile. I use my base for background info, existing surface creation, and existing pipe networks. Your pipe networks will require alignments if they are to be placed in profiles not associated with another alignment (such as a street). Then via DRefs and XRefs I combine and utilize that info into design production dwgs.
