Is there a way to create a surface by manually seleting the points instead of creating a point group? I survey stockpiles for a local construction company and calculate volumes for them. There may be 50 piles on one site and it would be a lot easier to create a surface by selecting the points manually instead of creating so many point groups.
There will be two surfaces for each pile. One surface is from the points we shoot around the base of the pile. This surface is used for the existing ground of the pile. The other surface is all of the points we shoot on the pile. This surface is used for the finished ground of the pile. Then the volume of the material is calculated from the difference of the two surfaces. There has to be two separate surfaces for each pile because we need to know the volume of each pile. Each pile is a different type of material.
