Create ROW for Cul-de-sac

Is there a way to add a cul-de-sac to the Create ROW tool in the parcel menu? I noticed that it seems to only work on grid layouts for more urban areas. If Cul-de-sacs could somehow be worked in it would totally rock.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Not "automatically" - there's still a bit of geometry work to be done by
hand. I'm waiting on that "design subdivision" button...

Hi Jason,

Have a look at the AVI which Shane O'Rorke made of the "Magic" command in
Advanced Road Design from the bottom of the page at:

http://www.cadapps.com.au/12.html

Corridor-Ezi also has this style of functionality.

Dana: That is how I presently do it, but as I'm saying in the lower portion of this reply that I'm not asking for myself. I know how to draw ROW and parcel to it. Thanks for the link though

Jason:

Not looking for a "design subdivision" button.

The create ROW tool is not very functional is what I'm pointing out. I was asking if it was possible to have it figure a cul-de-sac at the end of an alignment. I know that I have to draw it by hand, I do it that way now.

I'm asking this question on behalf of one of our land planners and I didn't know the answer and to say "I don't know let me ask some people that might" is what I thought a good CAD Manager did. Guess that article in AUGI was wrong. Thanks for the "help". Message was edited by: daveoko

I know Jason's tone can _seem_ snarky, but he wasn't trying to be.

There is no culdesac maker from an ROW perspective, unfortunately. Sorry I wasn't more helpful.

Dave -

That was tongue in cheek - I've been complaining about that command for
a while now. Not only is it rather useless in the real world, it's not
dynamic. It would be just as well if they took it out almost altogether.

As it was, I answered your question - you can't do it automatically, you
still have to do manual geometry. If you read anything else into that,
then I most sincerely apologize.

Eh, Just having a bad day I suppose. Had to lash out somewhere sorry it had to be you two.

You did both answer my question directly. 😉 It simply doesn't work for what we need it to do, as it seems to only work on a grid based layout which we all do every day all day, right? 😛

Anywho ... thanks for the answer(s).

I was just playing with this ROW command to see just how useless it is. Now it does a nice job of filleting the at the intersection corners and creating a symmetrical row width, but, as everyone has stated before, no cul-de-sac.

... then I had a thought (it happens from time to time) What if the cul-de-sac bulb existed as a parcel before the row command was run and was chosen as one of the parcels to react with while creating the row. Well, it works! Although I'm not sure how useful it is though. The cul-de-sac parcel can't be a completely circular parcel so I closed up my test parcel with a small segment. (I suppose it could have been done with two arcs)

Anywho, I thought I'd share my funky little experiment.
