Create Pi at the end of a feature line

I have a feature line arc, 2 points with elevations.

I want to add a PI on either side of the arc, when I click insert pi, I cant place outside the line.

When i create a new Feature line and JOINFEATURES. I Crash.

Anyone Else experience the Joinfeatures crash?

Anyone have a solution to my issue?

I use join features everyday w/o issue.

Make sure the object you want to join to a feature line is either a 3dpoly or a 2dpoly.

In either case the vertex where the join occurs must have identical Z values on both objects for the join to work.

If you still have issue post a simple file with just the feature line and the objects you want joined.

But is there a way to just add a pi after the end?

No, I don't think so. Grip edit and drag the end, or extend it to where you want. Then add a PI back in where the end is currently.

Troma is correct. You can only add a PI inside the fline's start and endpoints. Also note his Extend comment. Extend works great. Sometimes you do want to maintain the FLine endpoint and add another arc. If I had to do this my workflow would be,

1. Draw an arc (or pline or 3dpline) from the endpoint of the original featureline by typing A into the command line and using osnaps (onsapz=0) to insure the arc is created at the FLine endpoint elevation.

2. Type PE into the command line to convert the arc into a pline.

3. Use FLine Join.

There is no need to convert plines or 3dplines to feature lines prior to FLine joining IF the meet at a common z value. I use this procedure often and never have crash issues.

I don't remember specifics, but I have crashed while using feature lines. They can tend to be a little glitchy, especially in older releases. What version are you in?
