Ya know, I had a feeling it was something like that, but I'm still too
ignorant of the whole system to even try finding it. And, oddly enough, I
had an odd feeling when I was playing with those settings.......a
premonition, maybe. 😮
Thank you much for the quick diagnosis and solution.

Tom,
Good find. It looks like there is a setting which has not been implemented
correctly.
Edit the CreateFeatureLines Command setting. You do this by going to the
settings tree, expand the Grading node, Expand the Commands node, and then
Rt. Click on the CreateFeaturelines command. In the Feature Line Creation
category, you will see a setting called "Use Selected Object Layers". That
does not work correctly if it is set to "True". Set that to "false" and
set the layer for your Feature lines in the Drawing settings. If you do not
set the layer in the drawing settings, it will use layer 0. Therefore, if
you set that to false, you will get feature lines created again.

No error, etc..............nothing..........particularly troubling: no
feature line. Any thoughts?
This drawing has recently generated a fatal error and I have not been able
to create a feature line since. (I tried creating a new site, setting a
different target surface in the grading tools and everything else I could
think of.)
If I create a new drawing, all is well.
