Crash on Save

I am just at my wit's end here. I have a drawing that I have had a good amount of trouble with and have recreated several times. The project is finally finished and submitted but I no longer can make any changes to the file and successfully save it. In fact, whenever I open the file and attempt to save it, Civil 3D crashes out with a Fatal Error. I have tried running an audit and some basic errors are fixed however a save still causes a crash. I have been able to successfully restore the file from the server to a file from last week and open it and save it just fine, however, after opening and saving in 2007 format, the next time I open and save it crashes again. My question, is this a 2007 issue? Do I simply continue to use 2006 to avoid this issue? Any thoughts?

Can you post it? We might not be able to help, but I know Himanshu will want
to have a look at the dwg. Drawing compatibility moving forward is a big
deal.

If it's under 1Mb post it here, otherwise, there's a group called
Customer-Files that allows larger posts. Just put the same subject line on
the post in that group.

Ok, well it seems the file is too large to post (or at least that is the error it is giving me) at ~4.5mb... Message was edited by: mattbaker502

I don't quite have as bad of a problem as you do, but I also notice that 2006 drawings that are opened in 2007 crash when you try to save them. I do not notice it as frequently as you say yours does. Has anyone else noticed this???

When you try to recover your drawing after the crash does your drawing recover properly? A couple of times I have had the drawing recover to nothing on the screen.

I have tried recovering, it simply states that everything has recovered just fine but upon saving it crashes yet again.

Matt,

Try setting Proxygraphics to 0. There is an issue which we are tracking
related to Proxygraphics set to 1. If that does not work, send me an email
danieldotphilbrickatautodeskdotcom. I'll let you know how to get the
drawing to me.

what kinds of things are in the drawing?

Parcels?

Surfaces?

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my?

All of the above?

It sure seems like the lions and tigers and bears and it definitely had me screaming "Oh My!" but it has two corridors, two proposed profiles, corridor surfaces for each corridor, and a couple of other independent surfaces. The problems with this project started several months ago with serious fatal errors pertaining to grading objects and the like and nothing has ever really been the same since.

I hope this is what you were looking for.

Matt Baker
