Counting Parking Spaces

I came across a tip/trick on how to count/label parking spaces using dimensions, I think, awhile back. Now that I need to do that for a parking lot design, I can't find it. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Hmm does a block not work for you?

You can then add attributes to distinguish between types and export a table of results.

You could use a line label with an expression to divide length by width.
Then just put the line on a no-plot layer. You'll have to play with the
rounding to make sure it works, but that's the one I've used.

are you saying make a block to the parking stall size and lay that out? That might work, thanks.

Thank you Mr. Wedding, that is going to work just fine. I was hoping to use a label so I wouldn't have to futz with different text sizes.
Man, I love C3D!! Just wish I was smart enough to harness a fraction of it's power, but I'm getting better.

I've been using a simple AutoCAD dimension style. I set the measurement scale to 1/parking stall width. (ie, a 9' stall width = 1/9 measurement) I do my dimensioning through an active view port so I don't need to make any adjustment to the style for different scales. It's simple, and adaptable, so it works fine for me.

Thanks, I think that was what I was thinking of when I posed the question.

I've since taken Mr. Wedding's idea and made a line label with an expression which worked out great.

However, I will keep that little nugget in the back of my mind for future reference.

You can also use the dims and/or labels to count CMU's/course in profiles by
dividing the area by block width.

Any ideas on how I can remove the brackets from displaying when using Alt. Units to add additional information to the dimension?

I was just reviewing old notes here when I came upon your post. can you tell me how I can use blocks to generate database or some sort of chart; keeping track of parking lot counts?

Thank you very much
