Corridor will not match ground surface

Hello,  i am designing an alignment for our civil eng. senior design class.  I have created a surface in CAD from contours a local firm of the area.  Civil 3d seems to recognize them just fine.  I have tweaked the assembly many times to get the daylighting to be correct bu to no avail.  Any suggestions of things I may have overlooked would be appreciated.  At our school we have virtually no support for Civil 3D so I am hoping this forum can help.  See attached image for an example of the issue.  I am happy to porvide more info if neccessary.  Thanks.

Why don't you give us a screen shot of the actual assembly you're using and what version of Civil 3D and what OS you have. That will help figure out what your problem is.

Thanks for replying.   When I went back into my drawing to take some additional screenshots, I was unpleasantly greeted by the image listed "reopened_anomoly"  Most of my contours wouldn't show and my alignments and corridors were destroyed.  For some reason what appear to be triangles (blue lines) are at the ground surface of the section view.

I started from scratch and recreated a corridor with a different assembly (attached below) and the same thing happened.  Although, there maybe some issue with my assembly and the way I have the dayligh attached to the subbase on the shoulder of the trail.  I am happy to continue providing screenshots or additional info.

Thanks,

Carl

I had this same problem a couple days ago. I suggest that you adjust your frequency in corridor properties. I think the default is 25, however if your drawing is large do this incrementally or expect crashes....25 to 10 to 2. I ended at 2 because it was close enough for me. It was explained to me that a corridor will grade in a straight line and the tighter the frequency the tighter your corridor surface will be.  I hope this helps

Thank you very much for the suggestion,  I tried reducing the frequecy to 2 and it did seem to make a differenc in some areas, however, the problem still remians for the majority of the corridor.  I am going to keep messing around with this but other suggestions are welcome.  I am boggled.

I am using 2011 civi 3D on windows 7.  The drawing is too large to post (54 MB) but I will try to investigate another way to make the drawing available.  Thanks, Carl

I'd suggest making a backup of you're drawing and then trying the Audit command in the drawing and /or using the Recover command to open it. You can also try WBlocking all the drawing entities and then inserting the drawing in to a fresh drawing created from the appropriate template.

Does you're drawing cover a large area and do you have all the elements of your project in one drawing. I'm asking because the drawing size you mentioned in another post seems a little large.

About the blue triangles. Do you have your surface displayed with 3D lines or faces? Are the screenshots from the Section Editor. If they are the triangles could be any drawing entities at that station or they could be a display problem. Let us know about your computer, especially the video card.

My surface is quite large, I am dealing with an 8 mile trail.  I hae a working drawing at this point, nothing needs to be restored now.  I am still dealing with the issue of my corridor not matching my ground surface contours.  Do you have any suggestions?
