Conveetting AutoCAD 2D survey to 3D survey

Morning

I am new to Civils 3D, please could anybody give me step by step instructions on how to convert an AutoCAD 2D survey drawing to a 3D survey drawing using Civils 3D.

Thanks in advance

What kind of data you own, sir: contours, XYZ points,  or what else?

Thanks

It just has levels on, no X,Y,Z points

Probably better off posting it so we can see what you've got

Yuk that's horrible.......

In the first instance I'd go back to the supplier and request a triangular DTM or a real 3D (i.e. X,Y,Z polylines and points/blocks) drawing

Whilst C3D could produce a surface from the text values of the levels, the position of the level will be the insertion point of the text rather than the plus sign. you would also need to create breaklines between each each "level". Some of the lines are very small length which means you can't use them directly as they do not span between level points.

You could also create Civil 3D points/feature lines manually by clicking each "level plus" and typing in the level

Unless you can get a better drawing this will mean a lot of tedious work in C3D

Thanks

Unfortunately the company who produced this in 2007, do not have a 3D version.

Thanks for your help

Unbelievable....Smiley Frustrated - what is the point of a "2D" survey??

Yes - very good but bear in mind my earlier reply that these points are at the insertion point of the text NOT the actual level location - this may be acceptable for your use but it may not be in which case your DTM is spurious

There is a tool called TopoGX which can convert this 2D survey into a 3D survey. It uses some kind of artificial intelligence to interpret the 2D drawing in the same way that we humans do when we look at it.

I attach a screen capture of the 3d view. Seems OK

For future reference, there is an application called Site3D which analyses 2D surveys like this and assigns each text item, that represents a level, onto the appropriate drawing feature (e.g. nearby cross, block or feature line), and makes a 3D surface.

The one-click 3D result from your uploaded DWG looks like this:
