Contours not matching

Does anyone know why my proposed contours aren't matching my existing? Some of them are over shooting the proposed and some are short.

Thanks

Many possibilities, but a picture would help us out.

It looks like it's a corridor surface, maybe? If so, try reducing the sampling frequency. That sometimes helps.

It's feature lines graded to surface. I had to go in close so you could see it. This is the worst spot but it happens everywhere. I was just thinking, could it have anything to do with the contour smoothing on the existing surface?

I think the only way your going to get it to match exactly is to have a
"final surface", the existing surface with the proposed surface pasted on
the existing surface. You can then extract the boundary from the proposed
surface and offset it by an small amount (maybe 1'). Use this extracted
polyline as a non-destructive boundary for your "final surface."
Then they will perfectly match.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother. You are pretty close as it is, and in the real world, you have to balance getting it spot-on versus moving along and getting the job completed. Since this grading is very close (especially if you are zoomed in to see it) then I'd say "good job" and get along little doggies.

I agree with castled, Good enough for county work!!! One thing, no one asked if a daylight line was used in the surface creation. You may want to look into or not.

The reason they don't match is the slope of the triangles used to draw
the contours are different between the two surfaces.
