Why is civil 3D updating gradings any time I envoke a command? I have a site with many gradings, and every time I draw a line, hatch an area, edit text, ect. I'm waiting for 2 min while it updates gradings? Even if my "activity" is no where near any gradings. Is thee a way to stop this? I not editing feature lines or changing surfaces or anything you would expect  to need to update gradings. It is the simplest of commands that has almost completly halted my progress with this project.  How am I supposed to tell my clients that "I'm sorry it took so long I had to draw a line"

In Prospector, check all your surfaces by Rt. clicking each.  If any of them have a "Rebuild - Automatic" with check mark, turn them off.  (Turn off the check mark.)
