Well, now THAT will keep us from deploying for sure!  We live on sections!  Dang, darn, shoot, !@#$%^&^&&***

It may only be the editor, but it's enough to really confuse folks.  I hadn't quite gotten to that worflow yet in testing for deployment.  Thanks Fred.

Yep - another good reason why not to implement into production until at least the first SP.

Gotta love the speed that Autodesk get around to fixing defects.....now if this was Autodesk 360 it would be fixed embarassingky quickly no doubt.....

If they're fixing other things in the Section View/Editor then perhaps they can deal with the grid linetype issue also.  Here's what happens if I forget to check the current linetype before starting the View Editor.

Not a huge problem, but if you're working on that part of the code anyways...

We live on sections!

Yes, here too as an engineer. Typically have three viewports(Section, Plan, Profile) with Station Tracker on (really like this feature).

I don't know how this stuff gets out the door in this condition...We need strong Civil 3D product leadership desparately.

Its a pity the minimise / maximise viewport feature breaks the section editor command and has done since it was incorporated into the package!!! I found it in the first beta version, never been fixed.

Installed Hot Fix 1 and you can see the results below. How can this continue to go unaddressed?

This is totally unacepptable!  We need Section Editor functionality ASAP for our engineering work.

Which hot fix did you install? I just checked the Updates & Service Packs page and did not see one named Hot Fix 1.

Did you honestly expect it to be fixed so soon...this is Autodesk we are talking about and the defect isn't anything to do with a Cloud product...?

We are still waiting for this, and have not yet been able to deploy 2014 as a result.

This is totally unacceptable. Has anyone heard any news on when we can expect this?

Not sure why we are paying for a product that we can't even use...

I've been looking at this for a while now, and I'm pretty much convinced that the problem isn't actually related to layers.  The section viewer is supposed to be using the ACad clipping planes function to display a slice of the model at the corridor section but in 2014 the clipping planes are never turned on.

If you open the section viewer then start the DVIEW command you can manually turn on the front and back clips to make the section display properly.  Of course the problem is that as soon as you jump to another station the clips turn off again and you have to reset them.

This seems like it should be a simple enough issue for Autodesk to fix.  If they aren't willing or able to do so then perhaps it would be possible for someone to write a simple program to turn on the clipping planes from a keyboard shortcut or something like that.

Thanks Steve,

You are right, it seems so simple. Although I think you meant to say DDView.

Hopefully Autodesk can sort this out ASAP.

Regards.

Ross.

.....ASAP in the world of Autodesk usually translates as next annual release cycle (assuming it'll get fixed at all...!!!)

Good news... Civil 3D 2014 Service Pack 1 is out and has fixed the Section Editor display issue.
