In C3D2010, I am using the Composite Volumes utility to report volumes betwen surfaces and I am interested in creating a comparison of an area within two surfaces, not the entire surface. Is there a method to do this? In otherwords I would like to use the bounded volume functionality in the composite volume utility so that I can keep track of the data.
This work is for a monitoring project with 3 years of terrestrial lidar data from 5 sites. Each with it's own surface. In addition to comparing these surfaces over the years, I need to compare a portion of each surface as well and I'd prefer to not make 15 new surfaces that are clipped to do this anaylsis.
Thoughts?

Beautiful question, I had to comment in order to follow the responses for this one. Very interesting scenerio... I'm guessing you'll need to clip the surfaces as you've suggested.
