In the new Subscription Advantage Pack is a utility for copying styles and settings from drawing to drawing. This will be very useful for applying your settings to drawings that come from outside your office.
Strangely, Layer Settings, Ambient Settings, and Abbreviations settings -- from Drawing Settings dialog -- do not come through. Question for Autodesk personnel: Did you already think of this, but just couldn't get it ready in time? If so, I will look forward to 2012.

I agree, it would be nice to have all the settings imported. If you look at the help file for this feature, it lists which settings are imported and which aren't.
Correction, now that I have read the help file: Ambient settings are imported, but layer and abbreviations are not.

Read this "undocument feature."
You can transfer layer settings to another drawing.

Even though the design center can get the layers, blocks, text and dim styles not in use by a C3D object, I agree that a single utility would be nicer than a two step process.

John, can you try posting that link again. All I get is a link to reply to your message.
Thanks,

Sorry about that.

Aye aye aye! That works nicely, but, boy is this a possible source of error. It would be better if our friends at Autodesk would just make this part of the Copy Style Utility and fix the existing bug.
Thanks for sharing, John.
