I am hoping for some help. I have two very large surfaces. One is a field survey of about three square miles of land with average tin length of ten feet. (I know what you are thinking, the client demanded it). The other is a very dense aerial tin. I was comparing the two and hoping to present the client with a color banded elevation plot in PDF form. Because the original tin files are so big and the resulting tin volume surface that compares the two is even larger, Civil 3d wants to make an mms file. It stores this file in the root folder that drawing is in, but when I am trying to plot Civil 3d then creates a temp folder and copies the drawing along with a few other support files into the temp directory. Unfortunately it doesn't copy the mms file that is the data file for the grid volume surface. So the surface won't plot. I have tried copying the mms file into the temp drive and civil 3d will erase all the data in the temp drive so that it starts fresh. So i have waited until it is done with the delete and then pasted it into the temp drive. Civil 3d stalled.
I have tried not plotting in the background. I have tried almost everything.
Any fresh ideas or solutions here would be great. Attached is the error message that accompanies the plot.
Hi claytonb,
Can you tell us what version of Civil 3D including Updates you use and if you were able to clear your %temp% directory? I do remember seeing something similar few years ago, but think it was addressed later . Although I think it was related to Autosave saving MMS to %temp% (I may be off here, it was while ago). It may not be too much help, but let's give something to work on. Anyway, I would make sure product is up to date and would try it in new version if you have it.
