Civil Design Companion 2006

is Civil Design Companion 2006 for LDT2006 has the same functionality with C3D2006?

i'm actually confused about C3D2006 and the Civil Design Companion 2006... does both have the same features such as corridor modelling, for profiles and sections?

thanks for the clarification...

C3D is a complete rewrite of what a Civil Engineering package is supposed to
be like. It is designed to be a completely standalone package. Or at least
it will be at some point, many people jump back and forth between C3D and
LDT currently.

Companion is a new name for the Civil Design that you've always had, and
plugs into LDT.

Please get your reseller to go through the finer points, and explain the
current thinking on how these products all work together. If they can't, get
a new one. You pay good money to have this stuff explained to you _before_
you write the check.

Indeed. This is something I have to explain on a daily basis, it
seems. The naming convention of these programs REALLY confuses people.

As you and I have discussed in the past, I give most of the blame to
Autodesk marketing. Here's what we have currently:

Civil 3D
Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion
Civil 3D Civil Design Companion

Note that all three programs begin with "Civil 3D" Why not leave the
words "Civil 3D" and "Companion" off of the last two programs and just
let people know and use what they've always used? It's almost like
those items you see in the grocery store: "SAME PRODUCT, GREAT NEW
PACKAGE!!!!" It's the name that throws people.

Of course, I get paid to explain what those differences are, so I'm not
complaining too much 😉
