Civil 3d 2015 won't create a viewport in drawing created by Civil 3d 2009

I open a existing drawing created by Civil 3d 09 in Civil 3d 2015.  Everything was working fine as I could tell but when I tried to create a NEW view port I would not display anything from model space except some random text.

I can copy an existing view port and pan around but when I tried to "align" the view port it would not display anything from model space except some random text.

HELP!!!

Sounds like video driver issue. Have you checked to see if you have the latest video card drivers installed? Go into Options/System and select the graphic performance button. At the view top, do you see a yellow star next to your video card? If so, you need to download the certified video drivers. In addition, in the same dialog box turn off your hardware acceleration. You can also close the drawing and run the recover command to make sure you have no errors in your drawing.
