Civil 3D crashes after adding surface and topo data

AMD Radeon HD 6300 series Graphics

I am running Civil 3D. Everytime I add a surface and then import survey points it crashes. I can see the points loaded in with contours before it crashes. If I try to orbit around or do anything else after points are loaded it crashes. Any ideas why? I've turned my computer settings to optimize performance and turned on hardware acceleration in AC. Im in the process of trying to update my graphics driver and install directx.

Win8 and C3D2012 do not play well, or at all, together. If you want to use Win8 you will need C3D2013 with SP1 and Hotfix3 or C3D2014
