We have a client that has CIvil 3D 2011 installed on XP and regardless of the user account he signs in with, the software fails to run. But when he uses Remote Desktop and runs is from there, it works fine! This usually goes the opposite way so I really don't know what this could be unless it is somehow related to the Windows user profiles.
Anyone else ever seen this?
AutoCAD installs tons of registry marks on first run. Did he start the program from remote desktop first instead of on the PC? If not, it sounds like trouble with license transfer. Not positive, but just a thought.
As Andrew said, civil 3d install registry entries for a user account on first run. It also installs a bunch of files and folders in the user program data folders.
You might want to look into resetting the user settings for civil 3d for one user account then let civil 3d reinstall for the user account.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah, we have been discussing the user profile issue. The strange thing here is that no matter which user is logged in locally, C3D won't run. But whenever any user is logged in remotely, it runs fine! Weird!
