Civil 3D 2011 Getting Started Video #2 - "Create a Surface" Error

Hi all,

When I try to follow along with Getting Started video #2 - "Create a Surface", I get an error at the point where I select a PENZD source file. I found the file that is used in the video (EG-Surface-PENZD (space delimited), in the Civil Tutorials folder), but when I select it and click Open, I get the following error:

Error parsing value in line 1:
Value: 1 76802.2963 1025416.5572 148.0000 ""
Invalid characters found in input string '1 76802.2963 1025416.5572 148.0000 ""'.
Error parsing value in line 1:
Value:
Invalid characters found in input string '1 76802.2963 1025416.5572
148.0000""'.

I'm sure it just means there is an error in my file "EG-Surface-PENZD (space delimited)", can anyone help me out how to fix it though? I just installed the software yesterday so I don't know how the file could have an error in it.

Thanks!

Hi eheel-

I just tested this file on my machine and the surface created as expected. Did you ensure you chose the correct Point File Format PENZD?
