Civil 3D 2010 - can't install SP1 - "product couldn't be found"

I've read previous posts about this problem, but still can't solve the problem:

 1. I'm working on a network license of Autodesk Civil 3d 2010

 2. Recently the C3D is crashing over and over again with the error: "dbx cas0". Each time this happens I have to close and restart windows session before restarting Civil3D, otherwise the system becomes slow and sends error messages of "low memory".

 3. After searching on the net for a solution I realized I didn't loaded any of the C3D Service Pack's available, and that SP1 might solve the problem...

 4. So I began downloading SP1 and tried to install it directly in my computer (bypassing the possibility of deploying it through the intranet server); the file I' obtained at Autodesk support is: c3d2010sp1.exe

 5. At this point, I get an error message Civil 3D 2010 - can't install SP1 - "product couldn't be found"

Can anyone direct me to a solution

should I install the newest SP (SP 3.1) and ignore SP1, SP2, SP3?

is it important to proceed the instalation through a intranet server?

Hi Pedro,

You may go straight to Update 2.1 and then Update 3, but my suspicion is that the installation is not well because the DBX CAS <number> errors are typically related to the installation errors or missing DLL files. There are many variation of this message such as DBX CAS2, DBX CAS6, DBX CAS4,... and in some cases they were pointing to some issues with other applications or Windows component.

  • In one case I have seen before the issue was caused by the Trojan renaming some .dll files or by the issues caused by some third party applications that are not compatible with the newest version of the program. Run Virus scan and see if you can find anything.
  • Another possible fix is to replace following file found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AcDb16.dll from any working machine.
  • If you are running Windows Vista disable User Account Control (UAC) in Control Panel>User Accounts

Then:

1.     Close any open Autodesk applications

2.     In Windows Explorer, browse to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AcDwgFilter directory.

3.     Rename AcDwgFilterImp16.exe to AcDwgFilterImp16.old.

Note: make sure you make backup of all files being replaced.
