Can't turn tracking off while ortho mode is engaged

I just migrated to 2010 and can't turn ortho tracking off. I've gone thru all the help files, plus enlisted the help of co-workers, but the tracking box continues to show while drawing using ortho mode (F8). I've been an AutoCAD user since release 3.14 so I don't think my problem is inexperience, but I can't find the proper toggle in this newer version. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

There is no such tool as Ortho Tracking. There is ORTHO, Osnap Tracking
(OTRACK), and Polar Tracking (POLAR). Look in the status bar in the bottom
and you'll see a bunch of icons. Turn off the 3 toggles (or better yet,
read up on them) and I would imagine what you're experiencing should stop

I have tried toggling F10 (which turns the ortho mode off and engages polar tracking) and F11 (which turns ortho snap tracking off) with no luck.

Perhaps I need to be more specific. While drawing with ortho mode engaged, via the F8 key or the icon in the tool tray, a tracking box follows the line I am drawing. When ortho mode is turned off, again via the F8 key, the tracking box does not show.

Thanks.

The only "box" i see is the tooltip. Although I do have the aperture box turned off, thats the only other "box" that comes to mind.

A picture is worth more than a thousand words in this case......

Attached is a small screen capture showing what I see while drawing a line while ortho mode (F8) is engaged.

I have been an AutoCAD user since release 3.4 (1986) and I'm fairly familiar with the product. I have read the help files fairly extensively with no luck. Other advanced users within my department have also been unable to toggle this feature off.

Thanks.

Thank you, Ron. Your suggestion appears to work. I believe we tried that yesterday without success but I'm hopeful it will work today.

Have you try to change the value in the variable "autosnap" (?)
