I was working with our reseller, LACAD, who is really good at doing plan and profile label styles, and the subject of
"stretchable" profile callouts came up.
If I have two callouts in profile, that overlap, I want to be able to move one over.
These callouts look like vertical lines with text above and below the line.
The callouts that do not need to be moved can be single vert lines with text.
The ones that need to be adjustable would have a small vert line, then a diagonal one, then another vertical one, with
text above and below the last segment. Most everyone has seen these kinds of profile callouts.
What I learned was that you could not make the "3 segment callouts" stretchable.
You can define fixed lengths for the leader segments, but they cannot change when placed.
Does this sound right? Not to doubt my favorite reseller who bought me dinner last night, but I have to ask.
It seems so fundamental to have the ability to move callouts around to avoid overlap and improve readability.
The workaround is ugly, explode the callout and do the old way...
