Calculating volume to a level in a surface

Hi everyone, i am ralatively new to AutoCad Civil 3D and i need some help. I am using C3D 2009 and I have a final foundation surface that i created from a detailed survey and i need to calculate volume to a specified level in the surface to know how much concrete for example is required to fill to that level. I have attached a surface and in this case i need to calculate the amount of concrete to be placed to RL 842.00. Can someone please help me do that.

Thanks

Cedric

I haven't got C3D at home to look at the drawing.

Here's a concept that might work...

I would extract the 842 contour from the surface.
Analyse the surface first to place a user contour at 842 if you have to.

Create a surface (call it 842) and add the 3D polyline (the result of the extraction) as a breakline and a non-destructuve boundary..

Use the volume tools to compare your EG with 842.

Hope that helps.

Create a new surface defined by a flat platform (polyline) at the 842 level which is larger than the other surface and use that for the analysis.

Ignore cut volumes you only need to use the Fill results.
