CANNOT USE CUMTOM SUBASSEMBLY FROM SUBASSEMBLY COMPOSER

I didn't now what happened, but the Civil 3D 2013 wouldn't work with custom subassemblies anymore. It worked fine before. I can still use them with Civil 3D 2012. Is there a variable to control or some setting problem? Thanks.

How were the custom subassemblies created? Subassembly Composer, .NET, VBA?

They were created with Subassembly Composer 2012 and they still work fine with Civil 3D 2012. They worked fine with Civil 3D 2013 before.

I tried to import the sample subassemblies from Autodesk website. They didn't work either. The message from the "Panorama Events" window is "Failed to create a ['Settings' from the text 'Assembly references and imported namespaces serialized as XML namespaces'].

Thanks.

I haven't worked with SAC (we do our custom SA's using .NET).

What happens when you try to use your subassemblies? Any error messages?

Did you import your 2012 subassemblies into 2013? If so you should see the support files at C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2013\enu\Imported Tools

Have your tried opening your 2012 SAC files in 2013 SAC and saving them then re-importing them?

The message shown is in the previous post. I tried to open with SAC 2013 and saved. They were the same. Because they worked fine before, I thought this may be the "variable or software setting".

And I did see the support files at C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2013\enu\Imported Tools. Thanks.

Are you using 2013 with SP2? If so you need to make sure you have Microsoft .NET 4.5 framework installed. Forgot that SP2 broke custom SAC subassemblies.

Not sure if this will fix your problem but definitely worth a shot.
