C3D2014 extremely slow after C3D2015 install

I mean real slow....what used to take 8-10 seconds to start C3D2014 to Drawing1 now takes 90-120 seconds. When I can finally click the A icon in upper left corner it takes 10-15 seconds before I can select a recent dwg to open. Once I do select a dwg, the dwg that took ~5 seconds to load previously now takes ~90 seconds.

I have run a repair install on C3D2014 with no change in these times. I've run ProcessMonitor to see if there's anything obvious and I sure don't see anything. Does anyone else with both these versions installed see the same type of slowdown?

So you don't see performance degradation with civil 3d 2015?

Hi,

>> So you don't see performance degradation with civil 3d 2015?

No (not yet), not with zoom and not with rebuilts of corridor and not with save, all of that runs fine.

Only the new selection preview needs sometimes more time, but I was used to switch that off (depending on drawing and situation) also in prev. AutoCAD releases.

Hi,

>> Maybe my machine needs a format.

If C3D 2013 runs without any issues, then I would say no (or "it depends", e.g. how old your system is now)

I don't know how old your ATI 7800 is, maybe you have to search for one specific driver that supports DirectX11 in a way C3D needs.

Hi,

one additional idea: Autodesk shipped the performance reporting tool with the 2015-products.

Maybe you can start that (command _PMTOGGLE) and send them your report so they can come back to you with some ideas to solve that.

I install Civil 3d 2015 in a second machine which has an NVidia Quadro 3000M graphic Card.

When first open the model the zoom in Zoom out work fine.

But after make a rebuilt the same problem occurs.

I have upload the model in another discussion here:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-Civil-3D-General/Civil-3D-2014-S-P-1-0-Bug-Material-calculatio...

If you have time take a look. I also find a Bug in material calculation with appears in civil 3d 2014 sp1 but not in Civil 3d 2013

Hi,

I see with your drawing that zoom and pan needs a few seconds, but nothing that I would see as unusual (for my laptop).

It is also hard to have realistic with textures activated as style when there are a lot of section views in the same drawing (to display section views (plain 2D-geometry) in a visual style that is built for 3D-visualization is hard for the renderer).

Rebuilding the corridor was done, but as there are missing PKT's (and sorry, I don't install any ones), at least that did not make any difference in ZOOM- or ORBIT speed.

Why did you turn off layer 0?

What happens (but also with 2014): with visual style 2D the ZOOM-Extents works fine, with visual style "Realistic" ZOOM-Extents goes to a distance to have 0,0,0 in the view 😞

Ok i make two videos, in the same machine with the same file.

The file work just fine in civil 3d 2013 but it’s too slow in Civil 3d 2015.

So the problem must be Civil 3d 2015.

I am not say the file is slow general. It’s obvious slower than Civil 3d 2013.

Also you can see that when i am in orbit command in 2015 it works fine.

And the material Calculation is wrong as in civil 3d 2014 sp1.

I will stay in 2013.

At this time it’s not worth to update with so many problems.

Hi,

my system (laptop) is between your fast and your slower version of zoom/pan in your 2015 video. But 2013 and 2015 are running at the same speed (about).

What might be interesting: have you recompiled your PKT's with SAC2015?

Have you opened a project with a corridor that does not use SAC/userdefined subassemblies?

>> And the material Calculation is wrong as in civil 3d 2014 sp1.

I see that you mentioned that again, but this thread here handles the speed difference, not the material calculation issues (to discuss that you have already found the correct thread). It's easier for all others, coming in the future to read in the forums, that ther threads don't get mixed up with different topics.

When you say recompiled your PKT's with SAC2015, you mean open them with SAC 2015 save them with it and reload it to the program or built them from scratch in SAC 2015.
Also i have a question.
You said that you won’t load my custom subassemblies. Why?
They stay into the program?
If you delete them, they don’t removed completely?
I try another project with no custom subassemblies.
On that project there is no big speed difference but still civil 3d 2013 is faster.

First one, open it with SAC 2015 and create the PKT from that.

>> You said that you won’t load my custom subassemblies. Why?

I need my C3D in original state. E.g. to avoid problems that might have to do with modules/apps/... that make my C3D then slow too 😉

>> If you delete them, they don’t removed completely?

Not sure about that, at the moment they are appended into the toolpalette they are not only files on the disk.

At least if you create a project that does not use your PKT's with 2013 and open that with 2015, is that also slow then?

"First one, open it with SAC 2015 and create the PKT from that"

what do tou mean create the PKT.

I open a PKT and save it or save it as another PKT.

Do you mean something else?

What is faster then? Can you descibe it or do you mean the ZOOM issue as before?

>> what do tou mean create the PKT.

Yes, save it with another name, just to be loaded & saved from SAC2015.

I know that this trial is nothing with a big chance to solve it, but as you say without your PKT it's different we might look into it.

Yes i mean the zoom comands.

I will make another video in a few minutes and i will share the link

Hi,

well, if it's in both cases the ZOOM, then it does not depend on the PKT's.

So we have to find out why on my system the ZOOM works equal in 2013 and 2015 (at least with no difference that is easy to measure).

If you create the video can you add two trials:

a) try it (in 2013 and 2015) with hardware acceleration on and off

b) try to disable and enable LOD

Maybe we see what switch is it that makes a difference (I hope so 😉 ).

Here is th video

I attach the file too, to test it yourself.

Its not a real project. I just make it for testing.

I think the new autocad 2015 with the new features make civil 3d slower.

I have install 2014 yesterday just to test and there was no difference from 2013. Maybe 2014 feel just a little faster with the model with custom Subassemplies.

So i think its the new autocad 2015 that effects civil 3d.
