C3D 2013 - Surface transparency (elevation)

Hello all,

In the previous C3D 2012 version I was able to set surface transparency just setting it on a layer with defined transparency. Example: I set my "existing ground" surface to a created  "EG" layer (example name) and set transparency layer to 50% (example, again) and it WORKS! My surface become transparent...

But now, in the C3D 2013, I can't get the same results... my surface is not getting transparent. I already tried to turn off/on hardware acceleration and adaptive degradation and show/hide transparency.

More details: I can get transparency on points, triangles, contours etc... but not on elevation, and this is my priority.

Thanks very much and sorry for my bad english,

thanks for the discussion.  Hardware acceleration 'on' was the difference maker.

Folks - I'm after an update on this topic.

I have the same issue - I have a volume surface displayed as 2D elevation. I wish to make this surface display 50% transparent (overlay on aerial photograph), I've tried the suggestions in this thread to date. My graphics card is a consumer nvidea card rather than quadro, but I really doubt that is the issue. Have Autodesk fixed the problem that they acknowledged in neilyj's post?

Thanks

no still doesnt work. they are too busy catfarting around with the likes of infrastructure modeller to address the bugs introduced in 2013. perhaps service pak will

I guess we'll just have to wait for this elusive service pack then...

I noticed that this still hasn't been fixed.  Very disappointing since I switched over to 2013 and I KNOW it worked well in 2012.  I use the transparency for the elevation all the time so that I can use images and other features in the drawing.  PLEASE FIX!!!Smiley Frustrated

Yes rbunner, no fix at all.. I can't understand why they went backwards like this.

I tried to change Visual Style to realistic or shaded... I was able to get surface transparency but it demands a lot of my processor or graphic card... Can't work with this...

Let's see the C3D 2013 SP2...

We are now in 2013 and i am sure all of you are awaiting a fix for this. I am now well and truly sick of exploding my surfaces to get transparency to work in them.

Looking forward to update to fix!.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed in 2014 or 2015?

Yes. C3D 2014 fixed this problem, but in a different way.
Now surface transparency is given by elevation or triangle layer
transparency.

This worked for me, changing layer transparency.
