What does the software do (I would assume it generates alignment sheets of some sort). I've never heard of it personally and going to their website (at least I assume it's the same one you are referring to, http://www.blueskydev.net) doesn't help much either (most of the links are dead). I would question the "Industry standard" line simply based on this aspect, again assuming I went to the correct website.

If it were the Industry standard, i would think you would not need to ask anyone if it were?

Never heard of it. The industry standard in what industry and in what part of the world?

It is primarily used in the oil & gas pipeline industry. I am using it in San Antonio, Texas and I know of people using it throughout the U.S., Canada and France. I was told in a Blue Sky training class that it is used globally.

OK. So now I know why I haven't heard of it. I checked out their website and it seems to be pretty slim. Nothing more recent than 2007. I'm surprised that a company with that type of coverage looks to have neglected it's site. I guess we should feel lucky for what Autodesk gives us.

Hello...If you haven't received a reply on this yet. You can get training for this software in Sugar Land. Blue Sky Development has their training office located there.

Hello Everyone.  I'm just now seeing this thread (Thank you Casey!).  I'm Ryan Crowson, Account Manager at BSD Consulting, Inc. (BLUE SKY).  The information Jaime gave is correct (Thanks Jaime!).  Please let me know if you folks have any questions.  To the above statements - YES, with over 15 years of industry exposure and developement, Blue Sky has become the industry standard in alignment sheet generation/data management software.

Thanks

I know this post is very old (but I'm hoping someone can help out), we have been using Skyline for over a year now mostly for the MDB files. We would like to try using it to pull our alignment sheets but we didn't have time to work on it before and now that we have some time to try getting Skyline to make the sheets they way we would like it has been somewhat difficult.

Maybe since you/others have used it for a while you could help give me some answers.

1-When you are dealing with a long, curved pipe is there a way to get Skyline to recognized that the line goes out of the view port? Or is it something you just have to fix after you pull sheets?

2- I ran my sheets 3 times and the stationing band kept showing up in the wrong spot, I double checked all my boarder settings and ran it probably 5 more times before it finally put all my stationing in the right spot. I also had to pull my sheets 6 times before it would recognized some label changes I made. Is that typical Skyline? Or is there something wrong with mine? I was only trying to do one band at a time, if i do anymore than that it freezes.

3- It has froze everytime I try running my profile. (This may get fixed when I get the update installed later this afternoon)  But do you guys use the profile generated by Skyline or do you use the one out of CAD?  Granted, I am new to this and it hasn't actually provide a full profile yet. But I can't get the settings right to make it look as clean as one from CAD. Any tips on how to fix it?

Thanks,

   Alyssa

@ATHOMPSONRWCH5, maybe @RyanC can help you.

Also, I clicked around a bit and found this website which looks more up to date than the one linked 4 years ago in the thread above:
