Autosave

Why does AutoCAD turn off the autosave randomly? I always have my autosave turned but on two occasions in the last two days I have went to recover a drawing after a crash and the autosave is turned off with no autosave drawings available. This has also happened a number of times in the past in different versions. I am running civil 3D 2012 currently.

Autosave is turned off during the publish process.  If you crash during that step then it's still turned off when you restart.

Kind of like the filedia setting, It often gets turned off after a crash. A lot of folks use a startup script that turns it on. If you haven't yet, you should get in the habit of checking after ACAD crashes.

Yes, this is my preference; add the following to acaddoc.lsp

(setvar "SAVETIME" 10)

neilyj (No connection with Autodesk other than using the products in the real world)

Of if you really want to be on top of it... piggyback it on a command you use often..... for example:

(defun c:E ()
 (setvar "savetime" 10)
 (command "._erase")
)
