Attaching subassembly

I can't attach a subassembly.  I create an assembly baseline, open subassembly tool palette and click on any subassembly, but nothing happens.  If I drag the sub assembly into model space it looks like an i-drop icon, but it does not attach to the assembly.  I can copy an existing sub assembly and attach it to the assembly, but can't attach one from the tool palette.  I've done a repair and it did not solve the problem.  I've tried this in 2011 and 2012 and it does the same thing.

Could it be a problem with Norton blocking access to the catalog?  If so, how do I fix it?  I've disabled Norton firewall and antivirus and still had the same issue.

Once you select the subassembly, command line prompts you to select the assembly to attach it to, just select assembly marker. Should snap to it. Note that you should have the autocad properties box open so once you select a subassembly to can make modifications to the parameters.

The problem is that when I select the subassembly, there is not a prompt on the command line to choose the assembly.

When you click on a subassembly does it show that it is executing the "CreateSubAssemblyTool" next to the command line?  Are you getting any error messages or does Event Viewer show anything?

I am seeing various forum post that talk about having problems with subassemblies, and they all seem to relate to the subassembly path not be setup correctly somehow.

When I click on the subassembly in the tool palette, nothing happens.  Nothing on the command line or in the event viewer and no errors.  I can copy an existing subassembly and attach it to an assembly, but I can't retrieve one from the tool palette.  I'll investigate the links you sent.

Thanks, Steve.

I performed a reinstall and it fixed the problem.
