Assembly

Dear all,

I have a question about making an assembly..

I already have my designed road worked out in autoCAD. (i'm using C3D 2012)

Now, i have to make a assembly, but can this just be made with a feature line around my designed road? Or do i HAVE to do it with the tool pallet?

With the toolpallet it wont be exactly the same and it takes more time.

One more question if this is not possible.. IF 2 subassemblies overlap eachother, can this cause an error?

Kind Regards,

Lex

I ask this, because.. for a contractor we have to do extra excavating for example in the below hatched area. (see picture above)

If i do the volume calculation, it will be only measure the exact assembly.. To be exact, i have to include the utility trench so it will take this with it in the volume calculation.

That's why i want to add an area around, with a polyline for example, which exact area has to be excavated and that it will be calculated in the model.

I hope i'm clear.. it's hard to explain..

I think the LinkMulti subassembly is what you want to insert.  It's in the tool palette, Links tab.

Use the help file to understand it's parameters.
