Anyone having problems with textmask in 2010?

I am having an issue with textmask in 2010. It masks the text but the text disappears. The layer is turned on but when I try and select the text there is nothing there - doesn't show up in a print either. See attached

Why are you still using textmask? I assume you're not using MTEXT. Use
MTEXT with the background mask option.

Now if you MUST use TEXT:
1. make sure grouping is turned on (PICKSTYLE = 1)
2. turn on the wipeout frame (WIPEOUT, Frame = ON)
3. list the wipeout you just creates. there should be 2 objects. if there
aren't, myabe attach a drawing so we can have a look.

I have had similar issues with text in 2008 sp2. Certain text just would not text mask without disappearing. I corrected it by retyping some new text and then erase the offending text.

While I really appreciate your input and advice - I am using textmask because I WANT TO .

Do you realize that asking me why I am still using textmask appears condescending and rude????

We all as AutoCad users have our methods we prefer. Whether it is because we have been doing it that way for 20 some years - or just happen to like doing it a certain way. If you MUST reply with a "your an idiot" attitude - you could do it in a much nicer manner - oh I don't know like maybe "Try using MTEXT - is works better" instead of "Why are you still????" or "if you MUST"?????
Sounds like you think you are better than the rest of us.

A simple question "why". I was curious. Maybe the background mask is
giving you problems which is why you're using textmask instead.

I assumed you were using textmask because you were using text and I gave you
some options.

Fine, I maybe should have used different language. I wasn't being
condescending. Sarcasm and tone are very difficult to convey in these
forums and people need to be a little less offendable.

BTW, I AM better than everyone here.

WOAH! Someone woke up on the wrong side of bed! FWIW Matt - I (and probably 99.8% others) did not find your response condescending or rude.

Maybe I need to send off my extra copy of "How to Win Friends and Influence People"

Somehow it does not surprise me that you didn't find his remark poorly worded. It seems the internet generation cares nothing about how they communicate with others or about treating each other with mutual respect. I guess some of us are old enough to remember the days when you tried to communicate with people in a friendly manner. Being snarky on the net is fun sometimes (I admit I enjoy it occasionally) but not here because this discussion group is here to help others - not demean or use it as an avenue to pat oneself on the back.

Man, there is always a douche bag in the bunch! How RUDE!!! LOL I found the comment a little demeaning...but whatever, I am just trying to find the reason some "background masks" work, and some don't...any ideas? Maybe a plotter issue for us as well, who knows...we are using the HDI driver for an HP 750C to work with our Kyocera KM-4850w plotter. Kyocera doesn't have a newer HDI driver, all they have is for 2008 or below.....someone help please?! Thanks! And oh BTW, I am the BEST one here and I still use text mask as well!
