Any way to automatically add a layer modifier?

During object creation (for example, surface creation) I can edit the
command settings to automatically assign my surface style. I'd like to
automatically add a -* to the layer name as well. Can't see where this
can be edited in command settings - is there anywhere that you folks
know of to set this up to do without any user input?

Thanks,

Under the settings tab in Toolspace, right click your dwg and choose "Edit
drawing settings".then look in the "Object layers" tab. You'll see that you
can do what you want here.

Bingo! I can't believe this one slipped by me. Thanks, Matt.
