DotSoft's MapWorks Base includes a tool that lets you select multiple photos.  It then extract the GPS Lat/Long values and even the Direction the picture was taken (if the camera had a compass).  It projects to your target system and places a built in camera block in the proper location and rotation.  The photo is hyperlinked to the insert so you can quickly view the photo.

Well done, Terry.

Justin, you can simply link vector objects to external images, by means of _ATTACHURL command.
I realize that their automatic insertion by GPS info (embedded in the EXIF tag) would be great, but surely not for free...

Think this does what you are looking for.

Maybe a little late now 7 years has passed.

It appears you are limited to a UTM coordinate system and you have to jump through multiple hoops (JPG > Excel > CSV > LSP) just to get a simple filename block on your drawing.  No hyperlinks, no support for other coordinate systems, no option to rotate to photo direction, no elevation, no ability to transfer EXIF properties to attributes.

These two tools are now included with dozens of other related items in the low cost GeoLocationPlus.

I recently found two great tools to accomplish this. We were also were able to create Civil 3D points from the photo locations to export to InfraWorks to get an accurate location to do 3D views.

These utilities will also convert the coordinates for you.

PlexEarth has this functionality and also has some other great tools. https://plexearth.com/
