AECC_Contours Missing in 2010

I've been having an issue where I open up a file and I cannot see any of the AECC_Contours in C3D 2010.
I open the same drawing up in C3D 2009 and I can see them. After reading the forums for awhile I tried to install an OE but could not install it. It told me I have no software that it would install on. Later read that it shouldn't matter since they should be able to read their own objects, so installing a 2010 C3D OE on C3D wouldn't work.

I have check several setting and am at my ropes end with this. I know I can just go into the drawing where I can see them and explode them and that's what I have been doing, however If I didn't know they were supposed to be there and just opened the file in 2010 I wouldn't be the wiser.
I would like to solve this problem so none of my users have to check the same drawing with 2-3 different versions of CAD to make sure we have all our information.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

1. Do you have the SURFACE in the 2010 drawing?
then:
2. Is the Style set properly for the surface to show?

The .dwg I am opening was made in Land Desktop. I do not have a Surface created in C3D yet.

Are you on Civil or Civil 3d.

Civil 2010 has a problem with the object enabler and seeing LDD contours
and points.

I have Civil 3D 2009 & Civil 3D 2010

If the file was created in LDD then you should have an LDD surface. You do
not need to build a C3D surface. Go to the Insert tab & select the Land
Desktop button, point the dialog to your project path and import your LDD
data.

I dont need to make a Surface.
I know there are several ways to get teh data into C3D so I can use it, however my issue is that when I open the file in C3D 2010 I cannot see the contours at all even when I know they should be in there. If I didn't know any better I would think that the file didn't come with them. However I open the same file in C3D 2009 and they are there. I do not want to open every drawing in multiple versions to check to see if my AECC data is there or not. I am trying to figure out why the Data is not showing up in 2010. I would like to phase C3D 2009 out of my office but if C3D 2010 is not going to show me all my data that will be a problem.

Are proxy graphics turned on in 2010?

If proxys are turned on & you still don't see them please note that I
understand you may not need the surface and I understand what you want to do
but C3D was designed to display it's own surfaces and surface labels not LDD
contours. If there is an issue I would not envision Autodesk believing this
to be high priority but I could be wrong. You can do what you do now & hope
for a patch or import the surface into a new C3D drawing & label it for use
as an xref in all your new work. It does not sound like any extra effort is
required.

My Proxy Graphics are on.

I just think it is weird that I can see them in 2009 and not 2010. I already went ahead and exploded them in 2009 so I could use them in 2010

Search back through the newsgroup... this has been discussed a few times,
with no, good, resolution.

I've only had / seen issues with Civil 2010 not showing them because the
object enabler doesn't know to show them.

I haven't seen the issue in Civil 3d 2010.

It occurs with most LDT drawings I've tried using with C3D2010. Thing is,
one day I can see them, another day I can't, all using the same drawing. It
seems to be rather sporadic.

I have a small LDT3 generated drawing. When I first came across this problem
I tested in 2009 and 2010, saving the drawing in each version.

In 2009 it opens just fine.

In 2010SP2, when I go to the Open file dialog, select the 2010 version, I
can see in the preview that the points & contours were visible when saved,
open the drawing and no AECC objects are anywhere to be found. Using
QuickSelect there are no AECC objects but lots of ProxyObjects

I just tested for the first time in 2011 and it seems to be working as it
should be with all of the LDT objects displayed as AECC objects. I've saved,
closed, saved, a number of times and they are still visible. Using
QuickSelect, the AECC objects are all available for filtered selection, but
no ProxyObjects.

This all leads me to believe that there is something fishy with C3D2010 &
LDT objects.

Same issues here.  Sorta.  One computer shows the AECC_CONTOURS correct, another does not.

The command "DISPLAYMANAGER" on the incorrect system does not have the "Civil Contour Object", or the other "Civil"  objects listed, where on the good system it does.

Have done the uninstall, and reinstall procedure which did not produce a positive result (except to the time card).

Hi all,

This may be caused by AeccCivilBase.dbx not loading. You can try loading it this way and see if that would be helpful:

1. In command line type APPLOAD

2. Browse to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010\ and select AecCivilBase.dbx

3. Click Load and Close

4. Reopen your drawing

Hi rriley-

Try opening a Land Desktop tutorial drawing, then opening the drawing that doesn't show the contours correctly in the same session of Civil 3D. The contours should appear as expected now.

Hope this helps!

I haven't seen this problem myself. But I was wondering if you use QuickSelect to select the AECC_Contours do you find any. If QuickSelect finds and selects them I'd try Hiding and then End Object Isolation. Something in the back of my mind says that could work.
