A value and K value

Hi there, in autocad civil 3D, there is a A value for alignment design. What is the difference between A value and K value?

A= that algebraic difference of the grades going in an coming out of a vertical curve.

K = the rate of change of a vertical curve

L= the length of a vertical curve

 

K=L/A

A= g1-g2

 

AASHTO has these definition and recommendations for vertical curves based on design speed, sight distance etc.

Use the bearing of the street going in and the bearing of the street going out, that would be D also.
