3D View of Points & Figure by rotating the EWSN wheel-Points disappear?

Hi all,

In the AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 program, I have done the Survey Databases\Survey Data-Ft McNair\Import Events\ for  the following data (FtMcNair7pts2depths4corners-C3D-boundaryrevised. txt in the PNEZD format):

1,438246.753,1312422.091,10.1001,FdIP
2,438609.870,1308129.262,11.2002,SamplePt
3,438609.868,1308129.260,50.2002,SamplePt
4,438550.143,1308130.676,12.3003,SamplePt
5,438550.141,1308130.674,60.3003,SamplePt
6,438502.798,1308128.391,13.4004,samplePt
7,438594.944,1308097.086,14.5005,SamplePt
8,438502.447,1308050.948,15.6006,SamplePt
9,438502.445,1308050.946,75.6006,SamplePt
10,438549.784,1308097.364,16.7007,SamplePt
11,438508.630,1308096.788,17.8008,SamplePt
12,438641.585,1307945.910,10.1111,Boundary B
13,438678.693,1308186.785,10.2222,Boundary
14,438383.351,1308186.785,10.4444,Boundary
15,438383.351,1308080.539,10.3333,Boundary CLS

It created a nice DWG (scFtMcNair7pts2depths4corners-2.dwg) - see the attached jpg file for details.

I have 3 points that have 2 depths with each point.  I want to see the depth of the points. So, I changed the 2D-workframe to 3D-workframe and rotated the EWSN wheel for better viewing.  Problem: After I clicked on the EWSN wheel, only the "Boundary" figure stayed on the DWG screen, and the group of points disappeared completely.  After the EWSN Wheel is clicked, is any way to make all the points stay on the 3D-Workframe screen? Please kindly help and advise me how I can do this thing.

Thanks in advance,

Scott Chang

It sounds like your point style is set to not display in model view.

  1. Go to the "Settings" tab on your Civil 3D toolspace.
  2. Expand the "Points" feature.
  3. Expand "Point Styles".
  4. Rigth mouse click on the style being used for your points, then click "Edit".
  5. Go to the "Display" Tab in the Style dialog.
  6. Set the "View Direction" to be "Model".
  7. Make sure that the features are set to be visable.

Hi Jason,  Thanks for your nice response.

I followed your instructions and changed the "Style" from "Basic"/"blank" to "Standar" for every Point.  It worked nicely.

2 new problams to ask you:

#1:  That "Basic: 1     Area: 1.13 AC   Perimeter:  936.53'" is still on the DWG, after I did the above-mentioned "standard" change.  Is any way I can change this "Basic: 1 ......9366.53'" to the "Standard"?

#2:  Point #s are too strange.  Is any way I can edit these Point #s to the #s I need?

Please kindly help and respond again.

Thanks again,

Scott Chang
