How do I draw 2D lines from points? What setting do I need to change? I want to drawin glines using the node as a grip but I do not want them to have z coordinates.
Thanks
If you are talking about just drawing manually, try setting the OSNAPZ sysvar. (I can't remember if it is 0 or 1, but the opposite of whatever it is currently set at!)

OSnapZ Follow the link,
You might also want to use OSNAPOVERRIDE
Set OSNAPOVERRIDE to 1. You then cannot pick a point that does not conform to your running osnaps.
Remember to set it to 0 after you finish or things might get confusing.

In your point style settings you can specifiy flatten points to elevation and specify 0 as the elevation. This is what we do and it works great. It doesn't change the Z value of the survey point itself it merely place thes survey point at 0 elevation. Personally I cannot stand drawining in 3d or obtaining 3d distances when trying to obtain a simple horizontal distance.

Until we got a 3rd party app, SmartDraft, that will give 2D dist an bearing between point even when 3D. I always used CgSList. It gives both horizontal and vertical distances as well as the slope. I wrote a macro that defaulted to points. Your method is also correct. I just wanted to point out options.
