2008 Deployment

I am creating a deployment image for Civil 3D 2008. When I get to the last step, create deployment, it is telling me I do not have enough room on the C: drive (which is my server c drive). I am actually creating the deployment on the D drive (server), which has plenty of room. The install path is set to c:/program files/AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008/etc......which is where I want the client install to be. I am not installing the program on the server, so why is it telling me that? I did not have this issue with previous deployments, and I have setup the same way.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I've had the same issue.

Eventually the deployment setup succeeded, but then it told me on I workstation I was trying to use the deployment on, that I had an illegal path "C:\Program Files" on that workstation (??!).

Did you just keep hitting retry to get it to go, or start over?

It's a glitch in the installer. To get around it, create the deployment folder on the server and make sure it is shared. Go to any other computer and insert the DVD. Run through the Create Deployment steps, and when promted for the deployment folder, enter the path to the shared folder on the server.

I am having the same problem. The way you are suggesting to fix is how I did
it the first time. I can create the deployment just fine. And I also go
through the configure part and change all of the client installation paths
to be the C: It seems as though the software automatically picks whatever
drive on the server that has the most space and uses that drive letter as
the default for the client install paths. Makes no sense. When I try to
install on the client machines I get the good old 1324 error. "Error 1324:
The file path 'Program Files' contains invalid characters...etc." The
knowledge base suggests to open the file "appsetup.inf" and change the paths
in this file. I can find no such file in the deployment folder. Does anyone
have a way to fix this or know what is going on? So far I have found no way
to create a working deployment image of Civil 3D 2008. Any suggestions would
be great!

Thanks in advance,
Chris

In case anyone is still struggling with this......
The installer software is not looking for the largest drive. It seems to be
looking for the system drive. The server I was trying to put the deployment
image on had the system drive as E:\. The software kept trying to use E:\ as
the default install path for the client installations. If I tried to change
it the deployment would fail. We put it on another server that had C:\ as
its system drive and everything worked perfectly.

Good Luck,
Chris
