viewpoint is actually past the object or inside an object.
Have you created a camera and set up your view. Try using the adjust camera
commands under the view menu.

Hello I think the topic is a good one to ask the question that I have,
I want to do 3D modeling and I would like to know what it would be best to change/upgrade on my computer to allow me to carry out a work of quality. I work presently with Autocad 2011. I would like to learn 3DS max to make animation.
Here specifications of my computer:
HP Pavillon Elite e9180f which rolls under Windows 7.
The index of performance amounts to 5,9.
Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2,67 GHz 2,67 GHz
RAM: 9 go
Operating system 64 bits
Graphic card: GeForce GTS 250, can go up to 4go of RAM but just 1 go dedicated (honestly, I do not know anything in it and I do not know how to reach the maximum).
A hard disk of 1 To
My principal question is this one: when I do a rendering of an optimal quality with lighting and various materials, with a resolution of 800x600 it can take to me up to 45 Hours!! What can make in sort that my computer will be faster on this level? Is this a graphic card, another processor? However, I play game which require much memory and graphic power and there ain’t any deceleration or loss of quality. For example, this interior rendering took me over 10 hours to make and there is no global illumination.
As I do not know very well the Hardware side of a computer, I would appreciate a good suggestion on this subject.
Thank you very much.

actually it's considered impolite to barge in and ask a different question in someone else's post.
This would be appropriate in it's own post.
If you are asking about Max rendering you are better to do that in a max forum
However should I assume this is a aca2011 rendering? oh or just autocad2011?
Nice rendering by the way! I don't have much luck on internels yet.
I get a reasonable render in about 25mins in ACA2009 but for internals you need to have more shiny objets , more lights > reflections etc to get the realism. I notice you are missing shine. ie. floors , timber etc.
I am rendering on a much slower computer than you are! Have you tried to use the presets and start from there. Start with medium. Maybe going back to a preset and only adjusting one thing at a time would help you see what is crititcal to adjust.

Have sometimes the same problem , it does quick render and screen is black. Light were ok, settings where ok and etc .
Have primitive solution that helped me - completely closed the program, deleted temp files and opened AutoCAD again, changed the view angle a little bit and turned off not so necessary light. It worked

I am sorry for "bashing in" another topic, I was thinking it might be useful for the other person too because we share similar issues.
Nevertheless, thanks for the advice, I delete a couple of files on my computer, try to change the setting one by one and it finally started to render a bit faster.
