Working in 3D Solid View and Opening Doors

When working in ACAD Arch 2012 in 2d view you can easily set the door swing in the properties window to represent the door swing in any value, i.e. 90, 45 or anuy other numeric value. However, when viewing the door in 3d, the door is always closed. Is there a way to open the door without exploding the object? I cannot find any modifier that allows me to do this. I have been installing casings then adding a blank and swinging it, but this is time consuming. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Edit the Display Representation for Doors that is active when in your 3D view. On the Other tab, at the bottom, is a toggle that is labeled Override Opening Percent/Swing Angle. If this is unchecked, then the Swing Angle property governs. In the out-of-the-box Display Representations, the Display Representations meant for plan views typically have this unchecked, while the "model" Display Representations have it checked and the override set to 0 (closed).
If you want control over individual doors, you may want to uncheck the toggle for that Display Representation, keeping in mind that any change to the angle made via the Swing Angle property will affect all other views of that Door that have the toggle unchecked. An alternative would be to place a style- or obejct-level override on the Doors that need to be open for that Display Representation, and set the opening percent/swing angle on the Other tab (or on the Display tab of the Properties palette).
