When using the design pallette tool bar, my objects will not insert into the selected surface? Reasons Why?

Without knowing anything about how you work or your drawing environment, this is just my guess. Try making sure your properties palette is either open or at least docked/autohid when using AEC object tools. I've had users on occasion report that their wall/door/window tools weren't working and opening their properties palette always fixed it.
