We use Dell laptops exclusively. Their Precision line of mobile workstations are very solid, optimized for cad and 3d.

You don't need a top of the line model either. even the base configurations are very capable. We run 2010 Architecture and Revit, both are very fluid on a middle of the line machine. My personal laptop is a Precision M4400, very happy with it.

Highly recommend getting ProSupport option - USA based (never off-shore) tier 2 techs, 3 minute max on-hold time. These folks know their stuff. We get Complete Care also - next business day on-site repair or replacement. 3 year contract will add $400 or so but is worth it, can't tell you the number of times we've needed it.

Don't get one of their consumer lines - XPS, Studio, etc. They are not as dependable, and the off-shore tech call centers are the worst. Edited by: PaulG.AIA on Apr 10, 2010 9:55 PM
