We've upgraded to Architectural 2008, and are having a problem calling up some of the older drawings that were made as a quick sketch using one of the classroom computers AutoCAD 2005 (educationlal version). What we want to do now is insert these drawings into the master drawings, but when we call up these old drawings we get a message stating that since this drawing was created using a educational version, the educational version wording will appear on version 2008 just as it appears on the educational version (2005).

Is there any way to remove this wording?

If you're just using these within your classroom, go ahead and insert
them and live with the plotstamp.

If you need them for some other purposes outside of educating the
students, then they should be redrawn, so as not to violate your EULA.

Cheers!

No, that is the way it should work, you are violating all kinds of licensing
issues by using EDU generated content in commercial versions of Autodesk
software.

We no longer teach AutoCAD and have ended our license with Autodesk. We've purchased Arch. 2008 for the 4 of us in facilities and we just want to update these files (7 total).

Then you need to see your dealer about how to remove the stamp. That's the
only way to keep yourself out of possible future trouble.

You may have ended the specific AutoCAD licenses, but you haven't ended your
license with Autodesk. To them, AutoCAD is AutoCAD whether it's
Architecture, Civil 3d or whatever, when it comes to usage of the dwg files.

Well, I really have to say from my perspective, if you're in Facilities
(so am I! 🙂 only in a medical center, not a school), then you're using
it for non-educational purposes, therefore, violating the EULA of the
software packages the plans were originally drawn in (which says that
the owner of the software agrees to only use those seats for educational
purposes, which is why they're so cheap).

I believe the plans should just be redrawn with with full version you
own now. Since there are only 7 files, that shouldn't be a big job.

If you are in need of other opinions to convince you, search for 'edu
plotstamp' or 'educational version' or 'plotstamp virus', something
along those lines.

Don't forget there is also a Facilities Management forum here in the
discussion groups, as well as on www.augi.com 🙂

Thanks everyone! We'll send them to Q-CAD and have them redrawn.
