We are using AutoCAD Architecture 2013 and AutoCAD LT 2013 in our office-just upgraded. Now, whenever we go into a drawing that uses the Archstyle (Shx) font and try to copy or paste any text, the font changes to simplex. We have to exit completely out of AutoCAD to recover the font. Any ideas what may be causing this out there?
There is a free lisp floating around these Autodesk forums that will strip formatting from Mtext objects so you don't have to do the explode/reassmble fix noted above: it's called STRIPMTEXT I believe, look for it and see if that will cure your issue.
MTEXT works best if the text is set to your STYLE and not to a specific font.
The problem is that AA makes that substition/style on its own, even though you might have the same version, I am not sure why it does......Could it be if you have a custom Font map path?
to clarify, when we open the drawings, the fonts are fine and display correctly, but if we do any copy/paste of text, everything changes to simplex within the drawing.
Go into one of these MTEXT objects, select all the text, and reselect the STYLE only. OK out of the Mtext editor, make no other changes except for that one.
Now copy/paste this one MTEXT within the same drawing, do the fonts change? If yes, you'll need to post the DWG file for someone with your font file to try, I can't replicate here with other stock SHX fonts (I don't use fake handwriting fonts, so I don't think I have yours around).
I have the same problem since upgrading Autocad LT12 to LT13. It happens with all drawings, even those I created. I open old files with LT12 and all fonts are fine even when I modify them. Open the same file with LT13 and all fonts are initially fine, but any text I edit changes to simplex and then slowly all the fonts in the drawing change to simplex. I have checked the LT13 font folder setting and even added the LT12 font folder location. Problem still persists.
