I have set up new templates for our company. These templates have specific names associated with them. When a user opens a new drawing utilizing one of these templates. Is there a setting that will nudge them to use the same naming convention as the base template. I have only noticed that AutoCAD opens up any given template as "drawing1.dwg" or "drawing2.dwg" and so on instead of the specific name the template has associated with it..
-Not a god of anything.
Perhaps if you asked your question more clearly. ACA already has extremely functional templates that do everything that typically needs to be done. There are already layer management structures in place that add standard layer names.
What kinds of objects are you attempting to name? (Drawing files, blocks, views, )
A template will always default to drawing# when opened regardless of the template. This lets the naming be up to the user. Rather than trying to find an automatic system of naming new drawings, try training your users to follow the ACA guidelines for elements, constructs, views and sheets. Teach them how to use the Project Navigator. It already manages some naming of drawings, at least when copying levels and setting up sheets.
