Remove Annotation Scales

I have a drawing that I recieved from a sub.  It has almost 4000 annotation scales.  A purge does not remove them.  How do I remove all these annotation scales?  It makes opening the file very slow.

PURGE does not have a Scales option, look at the pop-up list or the command line list, do you see it listed? Try SCALELISEDIT command (and the command line version -SCALELISTEDIT) have a RESET option to do what you seek:

Hi, I have a drawings with miltiple xref's linked to it. I have to do the commant SCALELISTEDIT on each of the individual xref and the problem goes away (drawing opens faster). However when I close he  drawing and reopen i seem to have to do the same exercise again. Is there a way that does this permanently ?
